Electronic waste recycling
Electronic waste (e-waste), including old computers, cell phones, televisions, printers, scanners, and monitors, contains metals, plastics, and hazardous materials. If not properly handled, it can pollute the environment. Therefore, e-waste recycling services aim to safely collect, sort, and recycle e-waste, reducing pollution and improving resource utilization.
Hong Kong Electronic Waste Recycling Programme
The Hong Kong government has implemented the "Four Electronics and One Computer" program, which covers air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, computers, printers, scanners, and monitors. This program ensures that electronic waste is properly disposed of at licensed recycling facilities. Furthermore, the government has established WEEE PARK, which processes 30,000 metric tons of electronic waste annually, transforming it into reusable materials through detoxification, disassembly, and recycling.
